All the news...
17th-Nov-2011 11:10 pm
My entries have devolved into pure crap lately.  *shrug*  Well let's see.

*I have new shoes!  I love them.  Skecher's Spindrift clogs...brown ones.  They're fuzzy inside and they have just enough of a lip on the heel to keep your foot inside, which is great because I love the ease of clogs but I hate how your foot slides right out too easily when you want to run in 'em or something.  Also, they are "tone-ups" which means they have this weird soft thick comfy rounded sole that makes walking fun and easy and comfortable, with just the right amount of arch support.  I've been wearing them all day and not only do my feet feel great; my knees don't ache and neither does my back.  I LOVE these ugly things.

*I'm working pretty much non-stop, but what else is new?  I'm always doing that.  To be honest, I like it.  I'm making effortlessly good masks these days too, so that's cool.

*It's snowing.

*Charlotte comes home on Saturday!  I'm excited to see her, though I'm worried that she'll just be too busy with friends to spend any time with me.  :/  We shall see.  Either way it'll be nice to have the kid home for a few days.  I miss talking to her about politics and philosophy and religion and all the things I'm too polite to talk to other people about (usually).

*Professionals are coming to once and for all organize Char's room.  I've begun the process with loads of laundry but they'll do the organizing and garbage duty and all the stuff that just makes me want to cry whenever I see her room.  :(  It needs to be done!  I bought a nice underbed storage thingy for linens, and a new stack of cubes for blue jeans and hoodies, and new comforter and mattress pad and pillows...about $200 of the good stuff from Target so her room will be spiffy when she comes home.  It'll still be her room, with the Chinese paper lanterns strung on the ceiling and all her posters and pictures tacked all over the walls and all her trinkets on the shelves.  It'll just be a neater cleaner version of her room, with all the video games back in boxes and all the junk put away, and clothing in drawers with some rhyme and reason to it (a drawer for socks, a drawer for tee shirts, etc...).  *sigh*  I can't wait for her to see it.  :)

*I'm about half done with my holiday shopping.  I love Etsy!!!  Everyone is getting wonderful, unique stuff that is handmade in the USA and we all get to feel great about it.

*I watched the coolest movie.  It's called "Moon" and it was wonderful and thought-provoking.  I love good sci-fi but there isn't that much of it around (most of it has guys like Vin diesel (sp??) or "The Rock" or whoever the heck else is the flavor of the month, running around in space gear shooting space guns killing space aliens.  In space.  So they can have cool zero-g space sex with space babes).   But anyway I liked this one.  It was thoughtful and sad and compelling and disturbing.  Good space drama.  In space!

*I finally saw the last Harry Potter film.  Yes, it was great, and yeah I cried like a little girl.  Harry is, y'know, Jesus-like in his perfection now and always will be.  All hail Harry Potter.

That's about it.  I have pictures of my latest masks (but again, I share them on FB and DA and Etsy and so I suppose they are ho-hum here) and my clogs (which are ugly!!  But comfy so I don't give a fig), but I'm too lazy to upload stuff to Photobucket so you'll just have to take my word for it; masks = great, clogs = ugly.

Don't worry about a dull post, once you do that it seems that no post is interesting enough to share here... and I'm interested in your life!

*hug* Thank you! I'm interested in your life too...your boy is so darn adorable and funny, you could write a book about him and it'd be a bestseller. :)

Re: sci-fi films: totally agree. It's easy to find fun sci-fi, but you don't run into the good, solid ones a whole lot. I'll have to check this one out.

Oh you won't regret this one..."Moon" is awesome and really, it deserved a bigger audience than it got. Definitely check it out.

Those shoes look totally comfy, and now I kinda want a pair!! *L* I sometimes walk around the office in room slippers -- lots of the Japanese staff does it and it's COMFY, so no one judges! XD -- and these would be awesome.

Glad to hear you're busy with orders and it sounds like Char's doing great at school. Good for her! ^_^

And I miss snow. :(

The Skechers are SO awesome...they feel like comfy slippers but they support my feet better than my hiking boots do. I'm thinking of getting an extra pair for around the house.

Come visit me in January! You can have all the snow you can stomach! ;)

Your description makes the movie sound awful, at least awful for *me*...not gonna watch it! :)

They ARE ugly but shoes that make your whole body feel better, well...it really doesn't matter if they're neon orange with purple flashing lights on the toes. Anyway they're 'ugly' in the kind of way you sort of like, imo :)

I saw the last HP in theaters...it WAS rather good. Entertaining to watch pretty much the whole way through. That's really all I want from a movie. (I don't like disturbing or sad, let alone disturbing AND sad. Damn Swing Kids, how I wish I never watched you...)

You've talked to me about religion and politics. :) (Though I'm so neutral in general that it might not quite qualify, heh. Is it even a conversation?)

I have to go to bed early, now, maybe even this minute. Was in Ottawa with mom and both sisters and now I'm trashed...but I'm 3 sweaters and 2 blousey shirts richer (but some $$ poorer. Not many, though, there were a lot of sales.)

Yeah, it's definitely not the kind of movie you would like. It's dark and definitely pretty sad.

The shoes are clunky-looking but they really DO feel great. I had my doubts about these "shape-up" Skechers shoes (even though, heh...my brother did all the commercials!) because they look so clunky and clumsy. But they really DO help ease you along as you are walking. They cushion your heel and support the arch just enough, plus they are spongy and soft to walk on. The best thing is that the rounded shape encourages you to roll your foot forward easily, heel to toe. Once you get used to them, you feel like you are barefoot on firm beach sand. I could walk for miles in these! They look kind of cute (in a hippie-dippy way) with my boot-cut jeans too.

I always feel okay talking to you about religion or politics because I let *you* bring it up (so we don't talk about it unless you want to). Also, you don't have really strong feelings about politics so we can have a nice non-partisan talk & I don't feel like I'm treading on your convictions. Also, we are good friends so we can have talks about this stuff in a way that just acquaintances can't. :)

Sweaters and blouses sound lovely! You have such pretty skirts already but with new sweaters & blouses, it's like a whole new wardrobe. :)

*I* bring up those things? I don't know how, when I know nothing about them. Well, politics, anyway. I don't even know what I am. I mean, I don't ascribe to a party anyway but I don't know what my views would be counted as. Though being Canadian, in the US I'm sure they'd be considered Liberal (er...darn, what's that called there? Democratic?) since almost all Canadians ARE well on the liberal side as far as the US reckons things.

I got a really pretty one with an oval cowl neck and no sleeves in black silk with cream and burgundy flowers (not a large pattern, though, that looks really good on my quarterback-esque shoulders. :) (Looks okay on my not-so-quarterback-esque DDs, too.) The sweaters...well they're kinda boobalicious, as mom would say. I was wearing a camisole at the time and am not now and the difference is more obvious than I was expecting. :)

I have 2 new (cheap) pair of shoes too but they are neither clunky nor ugly. Nor comfortable. But cute, yep. :)

Glad you get to see Charlotte! Nice that you live relatively close; I used to have to take 12-hour Greyhound trips across the damn West Texas desert to get home for breaks, early on in college. I only flew a time or two, and even then there was no airport in Las Cruces--had to cross the border and go to El Paso.

She has a boyfriend who is crazy to see her, and he lives here, so he's willing always to drive out there and bring her back. :) I bought him a Tom-Tom so he can get there quickly & safely. Least I can do since he's taken packages to her and he's bringing her home for the holidays.

I'm not on FB or DA, and haven't had the disposable income for Etsy lately, so *I* for one love to see your masks here. Besides, HERE we get commentary. Which is half the fun.
